Upgrading your Traqmate Basic to Traqmate Complete

We’ve had a few customers that were interested in upgrading their Traqmate Basic to a Traqmate Complete. In a few easy steps, you too can upgrade your existing investment! The big difference in the Basic versus the Complete is the addition of the DU (Display Unit). Under normal operating mode just simply connecting the DU to the Basic SU will not work.

Spec Boxster Traqmate Installation

In this article we discuss our installation of a Traqmate Complete Racer Bundle and Chasecam in our Spec Boxster race car. The installation is a complete install and integration of the Chasecam, as well as channels for Throttle Position, Brake on/off, and RPM. In this case the car is a 1999 2.5L Boxster in Spec Boxster configuration. The car has the stock non-egas Porsche DME 5.2.

Tech + Q&A Session at Thunderhill

We will be holding an impromptu and low-key session at the PCA-GGR Thunderhill event this Saturday evening (9/20/2008) for existing customers and other PCA-GGR attendees after the track is cold. The idea is to show off our Traqmate install, answer any questions you might have, help you with your install, discuss Traqview and Traqstudio analysis techniques, and anything else that comes up. We have the large white trailer with the Gorman Motorsports banner. We will have a limited supply of ‘cold drinks’ as well.

In addition we will have a rental and demo unit on site, so if you want to try out a traqmate, let us know ahead of time here, or just stop by.

Getting the right time for your sessions!

At Gorman Motorsports, we’ve noticed many of the DU’s coming in don’t correctly have their time set thus it becomes very hard to correlate the sessions and actual time. The quick way to fix that is to set it correctly on your DU.

1) Power up the DU either in your car or via USB on your computer
2) Scroll down on the DU to “Change Settings” and press the green “Select” button
3) Scroll down on the DU to “GMT Offset” and press the green “Select” button
4) Select the correct GMT Offset for your time zone.

Now you’ll never be left scratching your head trying to remember which actual sessions correlated to your Traqmate data.

Traqmate to Google Earth Translator

I released this tool a while ago as I started to get into Data Acquisition and the Traqmate product. The idea is I wanted to see my driving line on Google Earth. So I created the Traqmate to Google Earth Translator. This online tool uses the Gorman Motorsports server farm to translate your Traqmate export files to the Google Earth format. It presents the new translated file for download, you just click on it, and it launches Google Earth with your driving line shown as a blue Polyline. The Traqmate to Google Earth Translator is available here for free. Here are a couple examples of what the finished product looks like:
