Early Porsche Cup and MoTeC

in

The early (2000-2002) Porsche Cup cars have always been the red-headed stepchild in terms of Data Acquisition options due to using the Bosch 5.2.2 ECU/DME. It’s just not an easy ECU for MoTeC to work with - but that changed thanks to Chris Brown when he created a MoTeC CAN profile for his 2001 Porsche Boxster. A major hat tip to Chris for his work.

What we did is run his profile on our Spec Boxster for a few years circa 2009 and ultimately adapted it to work on early (pre 2003) 996 Porsche Cup Cars. This works because the Porsche 911 Cup Cars of the era had the same ECU (5.2.x) as the street cars including the Boxster and 911.
